KISS - Ace Frehley - Shock Me 1977 guitar effects

Well, good job by Lisa Sharken, but there are plenty of videos on YouTube now, of KISS at the Budokan in Japan, at the Cobo Hall and in Houston, in which Ace seemes to be getting a very very close tone as the one in the Love Gun album. Just check Shock Me and I Stole Your Love at those venues and you'll see what I mean. So the outboard effects are either not the case or indifferent. I personally believe the original Shock Me recording features clearly later-added flanging, but then again, what do you know? I'd love tolearn about makes and models inaddition to settings. The Les Paul / Plexi combo seems unquestionable. I wouldn't say that was prior to the crunch era, because that WAS crunchy (but crisp and clear). What it was not was grungy... Cheers!!!
